More about Edee

Edee Weigel started riding over fences in Los Angeles, California in 1968 and has enjoyed a successful career training Hunters, Showjumpers and their riders on the West Coast AHSA (now USEF) "A" rated show circuit. Riding her own jumper 'Bulletproof' she was Champion Jumper at many AHSA "A" rated West Coast shows in the 80's and 90's, as well as winning the Portuguese Bend Jr. A/O Grand Prix in 1984. Riding her hunter 'Into-wishin', she was 1992 Res. Champion Regular Working Hunter of San Diego County.

Edee was trained as a junior and amateur by professional horsemen and Grand Prix riders such as Kenny Nordstrom, assistant trainer to Jimmy A. Williams, and Bill Herring, trainer of USET team horses 'Fleet Apple' and 'For the Moment'. Edee rode in yearly George Morris Hunter/Jumper clinics, from 1977 to 1995 and models her own training after his methods. She uses the books "Hunter Seat Equitation" and "The American Jumping Style" by George Morris, as her training manuals. She recommends that her students purchase and read these books.  Her students have won Jr. Jumper, Hunter Championships and Equitation Medals on the "A" Circuit as well. Many of these horses were rescued and retrained by Edee and her students to become show champions.

Edee has been the trainer or assistant trainer of horses and riders that have won National Championships in Equitation and Jumpers, such as, "Hai Karate" World Cup contender ridden by Hap Hansen, "Tango" Champion Canadian Grand Prix Jumper, ridden by Lisa Carlson, and "Quantum Leap" U.S. Grand Prix Horse of the Year in 1995, ridden by Debbie Dolan Sweeny. Edee also trained Keri Potter-Pessoa as a junior rider, later the winner of the 1992 AHSA Medal Finals, now a successful Grand Prix rider based in Europe.

Edee has also managed several large Hunter/Jumper training stables and boarding facilities in Orange County, California in the 1980's and later in Rancho Santa Fe, California in the 1990's. Then semi-retiring and moving to Montana in 1997.
Edee started Hunter/Jumper Judging and Course Designing in 1980 on the West Coast and was a Licensed "r" AHSA (USEF) Hunter, Jumper and Equitation Judge from 1984 - 1993. She still judges non-rated Hunter/Jumper shows and designs courses.

Edee has been teaching Hunter/Jumper Clinics over the Western United States since 1980, with hundreds of happy clients.   She also teaches private and group lessons
locally near Billings, Montana. Edee's unique approach to teaching is based on a lifetime of owning, training, showing, judging and loving horses and horsemanship.
